This DIR-816L wireless AC router is a dual band router which gives you lightning fast combined wireless speed of up to 750 Mbps and it increases the range. This router allows you to operate two concurrent high speed Wi-Fi bands for ultimate wireless connection. It comes with three external antennas and 2.4 Ghz operating frequency and D-Link has come up with some advance features like one page setup wizard and traffic control and wireless repeater features.

Suppose if anybody has been purchased new D-Link router and he requires to setting it up. Either he has called technical support team member for setting it up or we are explaining this step by step article for setting it up and install it at your workplace or at home.

Setup and install of my D-Link router Dir-816L: 

There are following required steps which are necessary for setting up and install my D-Link router Dir-816L

• First you need to position your D-Link router nearby your internet connected modem and Personal computer and one more thing always keep your router in open area for getting good coverage of network signals
• Thereafter unplug the modem’s Ethernet cable from the computer and plug into the port of the router. Supply the power to the router with the power outlet and verify the power by looking LED is lid or not
• Plug one end to the Ethernet port of the router and other end Ethernet port of your computer. To setup this DIR-816L through wireless network, first go into computer or mobile device setting and select network name listed on the included Wi-Fi Configuration notes. You need to enter Wi-Fi password which are listed on the configuration notes
• There after open any installed browser on your computer and enter web address http://dlinkrouter or http://dlinkrouter.local or http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar. 
• Setup wizard will be open automatically, if you are logging this router very first time
• This opening wizard will give you the step by step instruction to configure your D-Link router Dir-816L and connect with the internet. You can also change the language using given drop down menu in the top right hand corner of the page where you need to click on the continue button
• Wait for some time to detect internet connection type by your router, depending on your internet connection, you are required to enter additional information like username and password which is given by your internet service provider
• If your router detects your internet connection, but does not detect the internet connection type. You have to click on guide me through the internet connection setting option to display a connection type from the choose from

1. Now you have to select your internet connection type like DHCP connection or It might be User Name and Password for DHCP Connection. This type of connection is mostly used for cable internet services. you do not need to provide some extra information if you use the connection type
2. PPPoE:This type of connection is widely used in DSL internet connection . you will mostly like to provide some additional information before connection to the internet.

User Name: User name is provided by your internet service provider

Password: Password will be provided by your internet service provider

• Now you provide these required information and click on the next button to continue
• For 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz wireless band, you have to create a name like SSID for your wireless network . We know that each wireless network required 8 character password. Your network will need to have this password to connect with wireless network and click next to continue.
• In order to secure your router, first you create a password to access this web interface. First you have to enter a password in the password box and confirm it by entering the password box given below and click on the verify button to verify button. You also need to check on the enable graphical authentication option to enable captcha authentication for additional security
• Now click on the next button to continue
• Now you need to select the time zone from the drop down list and click next to continue button
• Now you will get a confirmation window which simply signify the completion of the wizard. You will see the summary of your wireless setting. It is recommended to make a record of this information for future references. Click next to the continue button
• You can bookmark your router’s configuration page. You will get bookmark window where you need to click on add to bookmark this page
