How to setup D-Link DAP-2610 Wireless Access Point?

Wireless access point D-Link DAP-2610 comes with very exciting features like high-performance connectivity. D-Link comes with Gigabit LAN port. D-Link DAP-2610 wireless access point comes with WPA/WPA2 personal security features.

This works in multiple operation modes means to maximize the network performance based on the multiple operations like access points, wireless distribution system with access point and wireless client with WDS support.

Network administrators can configure or setup D-Link DAP-2610 wireless access points throughout the facilities and make a bridge between one another and provide network access to multiple clients.

Setup D-Link DAP-2610 Wireless Access Point

In the setup of D-Link DAP-2610 Wireless Access Point, there are the following things in the package are:

• DAP 2610 802.11 ac gigabit PoE Access point
• Power adapter
• Mounting brackets
• Ethernet cables
• Quick installation guide

Hardware connection:

• Firstly, you need to connect with the power adapter
• Then connect to a power over Ethernet switch or router via Ethernet cable
• For the reset button, press and hold for five seconds to reset the access point with the factory default settings

There are three ways of basic installation

• Use if you have a PoE switch or router
• Use if you do not have this PoE switch or router and do not have any type of power outlet
• Use if you do not have a PoE switch or router and have a power outlet near your location of the access point

Method-1: PoE with PoE switch or Router

• You are required to connect one end of Ethernet cable with the port of the access point
• There after connect another end into one port on the PoE switch or router

Method-2: PoE  without PoE Switch or router

• Connect one end of the Ethernet cable into data in port on the PoE base unit and other end into one port on the switch, router and computer.
• Connect one end with Ethernet cable into the P+Data out on the PoE base unit and the other end into LAN port of the access point
• Now you use the power adapter and connect the power adapter to the power in PoE adapter
• Now you are required to connect the power cable with the power adapter and thereafter connect the other end into a power outlet.

Method-3: No PoE

• Connect one of your Ethernet cable into the LAN port and then connect the other end to a switch, router or computer
• Now you can use the supplied power adapter, you are required to connect the power adapter to the power receptor on the access point
• Now you need to connect the power cable to the power adapter and then connect the other end into a power outlet.

Step-by-Step Guide to Setup D-Link DAP-2610 Wireless Access Point:

• Supply the power to the D-Link DAP-2610, you can use the following methods:
• Connect with supplied power adapter
• Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into the LAN port of the DAP-2610, and the other end into a port on a PoE switch.

Configuration of the access point:

• You need to connect your computer and access point directly via Ethernet cable. Now manage the access point from the computer

• You need to make sure that computer should be configured with static IP address which is 192.168.0.0/24 subnet

• Now you need to launch the web browser, type the default IP address of the access point which is http://192.168.0.50 and then press enter.

• Now you need to login the web administrator page, the credentials are admin and password is password.

• Now you need to connect access point and your computer to the same switch and you need to manage the access point from the computer

• Enter 192.168.0.50 in the address bar of installed browser which is the default IP address for the access point.

• Now you need to login the administrator web page. The default login information is user name is admin and password is blank.

• No you will get setting page of D-Link web interface where you will see information like IP address, Subnet Mask, DHCP Server, MAC Address etc.

• Now click on wireless tab, you need to change name of the SSID with D-Link_AP and select security option which is WPA-PSK/WPA-2-PSK AES and click on apply button to reflect settings

• Now click on the setup tab where you need to select local network  and click on apply to reflected all the changes 

• Now you need to lookout the DHCP setting and after confirmation click on the apply changes.

• Now you can check by selecting on the Wi-Fi option and click on the appropriate wireless access point.
